wow, terrible service from Nicole, she asked us if we were ready to order 30 minutes after we ordered, we waited 45 min for our appetizers then another hour+ for our food (sandwiches). Nicole was terrible, never asked for drink refills, food was average, should have gone across the street. bathroom off of bar was dirty and small. this place has style (old). outside on east side has grease running down onto sidewalk from vent. we went there on Rose Hulman graduation weekend, 4 years of going to Haute and never been there, won't go back now.

Moggers is truly a landmark in Terre Haute. The fries are greasy, the burgers are delicious and the salads are yummy. Generally speaking, though, every time I go to Moggers one person in the party ends up with major indigestion. It's good enough that that is normally good enough odds to go back, though!

I've been to their steakhouse Stables across the street, which really impressed me when I ate there for the first time last year, so I was looking forward to trying their sister restaurant and pub. Atmosphere was cool and casual with a mix crowd. I could see a lot of working professionals gathering here... If I lived in this town I would definitely be coming here more often! They had a good selection of beers too, which I liked. Good selection of imports. I had their Swiss and mushroom burger. It was good. The fries were good too, almost seemed like they were "natural" cut but I am not sure... Just a guess. I would definitely come back.

This place was great. We sat on the patio (which was gorgeous with strings of hanging lights) and it had the perfect ambiance for a late summer night. The inside was very busy but there were few outside. The service was very friendly but we did had to wait awhile for our check. Food was outstanding. We're not from the area but would definitely come back if we're here again.

You should visit this place if only to take a tour of it. The restaurant is housed in an ancient brewery. Antiques (and a few "mock" antiques) dot the walls. The floors are real old hardwoods in some places and brick in others--gross factor, though, is the fact that our feet kept sticking on the brick (gag!). There are lots of little nooks and crannies. If they let you, choose the balcony or patio out back for dining, since some other parts of the pub have the decrepit smell of "old". Our group, led by me, switched from an area near the middle of the restaurant to the chill patio outside. Yay, me, since the patio was quieter, roomier and so much more enjoyable. The handwritten lists of draft beers was impressive, even to someone like me who isn't into beer. They even had a chocolate ale and something called "Not Your Father's Root Beer". The menu had a solid assortment of appetizers to choose from and the normal offering of weighty pub food. Service was fairly "meh" for a Tuesday night. Not bad, but not good, either. The building itself was great and what made me give it four stars--service and food were three-star quality.

We were in town for a wedding last weekend. The rehearsal dinner was held at Mogger's. The party was held in the upstairs room which was HOT as hell. On a day that was already 90 degrees, this room was stifling. Our waitress was very attentive and we had drinks immediately. However, there were ants in my husband's glass. Gross. The buffet included appetizers, spinach dip and nachos. I only tried the spinach dip, it was just flavorless. The meal consisted of salad, rolls, bbq, a chicken dish, green beans and mashed potatoes. The bbq was good, everything else, just mediocre. I will say however, the chocolate spoon cake is out of bounds! I wouldn't eat the food again but the cake, hell yes.

I had the Italian sandwich... It was great, and the bartender who recommended it, Jen was a hoot!!

Some of the best beer you'll find in Terre Haute. Old school bar atmosphere, but plenty of space to find a quiet corner for yourself. Menu full of solid bar food, service hit & miss, but this place always means well & it's just pure Terre Haute. If you are full of nostalgic love for this city, this is the place to have a few beers & talk about the good old days.

    M. Mogger's Restaurant & Pub is in the very cool E. Bleemel Building, which previously housed M. Mogger's Brewery in the mid-1800s. The atmosphere within M. Mogger's Restaurant & Pub retains a lot of that older charm, complete with some antique brewing equipment. Staying true to the building's brewing roots, they also boast an excellent beer list. Additionally, they have a diverse food menu, and, thankfully, flatbread pizzas are part of it. M. Mogger's flatbreads aren't like the wimpy flatbreads that enrage me....my Mogger Meat-ta Pizza had enough cheese and a solid amount of toppings. The thin curst on their pizza really just allows you to eat more without filling up too quickly. Their flatbreads come in one size that is plenty to fill up an adult, and I would say it could be split if you aren't too hungry or want to try an appetizer first. Even though M. Mogger's Restaurant & Pub doesn't specialize solely in pizzas - they have a lot of other tempting items on their menu - I actually enjoyed my Mogger Meat-ta Pizza slightly more than the pizza I got at Terre Haute's Wise Pies Pizza. In all fairness, this may have been because my slices from Wise Pies were prepared earlier and reheated when I selected them, so I should probably try a fresh pizza from them. Still, M. Mogger's Restaurant & Pub is a great option in Terre Haute for good beer, pizza, and/or other food.

My husband and I went on New Year's Eve and thankfully it was not as busy as we expected. We were seated quickly and gave our drink order which took a long while to actually get. The food was alright overall. We shared the fried mushrooms which were amazing however the Townhouse Chicken and Cod Dinner were pretty bland. Our experience was mixed. If I went back, I'd most likely just go for appetizers rather than dinner.

My girlfriend and I met another couple here and two people in our party ordered the Italian Beef. Both of them spent the night sick! Same symptoms and hit them at the same time. The manager took 5 days to return my call and offered a free sandwich...ummm No Thanks. My pulled pork was dry and not good at all! I was very disappointed in the food. I would add negative stars if I could.

We stopped on a total whim. I typed BEST RESTAURANT IN TERRE HAUTE into my phone and this popped up. First, if you are handicapped, just plan on having a hard time. This old building is not very easy to manage. Our table rocked back and forth so bad, we could make our own milkshakes. I had BBQ nachos and pretty sure they gave me the BBQ squirts for the next several hours, but can't really prove that. Mom had soup that was pretty good. I know why Texas Roadhouse came up as Second best restaurant in Terre Haute.

Went there twice for dinner. Both times, there was nobody up front to seat us, and we actually had to track down a waiter after getting the bartender's help. Took the waitress forever to reach our table the first time and the food took forever to arrive. It was reasonably good though so I went back a week later. As I said earlier, nobody was up front. We had to get the bartender to seat us. After waiting for five minutes without any waiters, we noticed that nobody else had food, so we gave and left. I'm pretty sure they never even noticed that we were gone. We won't make the mistake of returning a third time. Summary: food is decent, but you'll never get it. Go somewhere else.

Wow - wasn't expecting such a great, classy atmosphere & food this close to ISU. College towns usually have some great little hole in the wall places - well, this place takes up half a block square and has plenty of room. Food was really good - surprised by the range of flavors! Server was so personable & gave honest feedback on food choices!! We WILL be back!!!!!!!

I've been here three times and have had a dry rub rib sandwich a burger and the chilly. The chilly was very Smokey and tasty I would definitely get it again. I also got a side of the roasted veggies, OMG my favorite part of my meal. I also had a bite of the burger with the chilly not my favorite.

I really feel like Mogger's is another place that is just one small push away from greatness! They are so close to being a bistro/bar kind of joint, and so many of the difficult elements are already in place, namely, the food. Well... mostly. PROS: * Kraut soup, very delicious. Could have been served much warmer, but it wasn't cold, still a bit warm. This isn't actually a complaint, but they put too much pork in there! It made it difficult to eat with a spoon, is all. But, I wouldn't definitely get this again. The broth alone was money. * The pork on the nachos was pretty good. It was moist and flavorful, though maybe not as Cuban-roast flavorful as advertised. Still, this was a great alternative to your standard beef/chicken nachos. More on those later, though. * The Hamma-Wamma-Jamma... yes, I said it, and yes, it was so good. Here's what you're NOT going to find: a basic, typical, boring ham and cheese sandwich. Don't you just hate those? Well, fear not, this one is bursting with flavor and comfort-food goodness! The ham is thick, lean, nicely heated from a quick trip on the grill, and topped with a slice of cheddar. The bacon is listed as jalapeno-smoked, and while I'm not sure about the technical nature of their process, I will say that it was salty, smoky, meaty, and quite hot! What a nice change of pace and a delicious twist on an old favorite! It still keeps the warming theme going, though, but by warming your mouth this time. Yum. And the pretzel roll was fresh and nicely toasted, as well (no salt, but eh...). Came with a great sauce on the side for the sandwich, too! Kind of a horseradish ranch flavor. * Chips as a side, total win. Not only are they in-house made (as is becoming more and more popular), but they came out PIPING HOT! YES! That's what I'm talking about! THAT'S where everyone else is getting it wrong! If you're going to serve kettle chips that you made, why make them up early and pile them on the plate? Fry them up to order and serve them steaming, piping hot! They were delicious! * Beer selection was good, especially for non-mass-produced offerings, but I have to admit, I'm also used to seeing craft brew places with dozens (maybe hundreds) more to offer, and very obscure ones at that. While this isn't really a complaint, it would be nice to see more. Still, they had Stella Cidre, which I'd never tried before, and I loved it. Also sampled The Naughty Clause, Founder's Imperial Stout, and Three Floyd's Pride & Joy. Like I said, pretty good selection! CONS: * My main beef (no pun intended) has to be with the nachos. While I praised the pork above, I have to be honest about the rest of the dish. It was room temperature, almost cold. Chips: room temp. Pork: room temp. Cheese sauce: borderline cold. BBQ sauce: VERY cold. Sour cream: VERY cold, but you would I think want this, right? Here's the deal... I asked for the BBQ and sour cream on the side, and I'm glad I did, because what I got was a very non-hot plate of nachos that should have been under a heater of some kind, right? I'm not crazy here, right? And the cheese sauce was either canned or just not done well, because it was plain-jane, bland, nearly flavorless. I think the BBQ sauce came from a jar, too. I do applaud them for putting these flavors together, though, because it was a unique idea, but you need to do it right, and for the love of all things culinary, put it under a salamander for a bit, would ya? Okay, gripe over. * Soup really should have been hotter than it was. Only complaint there. * My seat in the booth was uncomfortable. The cushion was basically gone, and I was sitting on springs. * Parking could be pointed out better. I had no idea where to park, but I did manage to figure it out (around back and on the side street). Decor: I loved it. Seedy looking pub feel to it, but while still being pretty clean and updated. You could tell what they were going for and how they pulled it off. I'm not sure if the building used to be an old brewery from back in the 19th century, but you got that FEEL about the place, ya know? And that's what's really important: how well they pulled of the theme. Home run, in my book. Service: my waitress (Jameeka [forgive any misspellings, I didn't write it down]) was outstanding. She was knowledgeable about the menu, made a very good recommendation (blue cheese with the chips! money!), and was very friendly. Not to the point of intrusion or annoyance, either! You felt that she was genuinely concerned with the experience. Only complaint, I did mention that the nachos were cold, and she did not offer to do anything about it, like that was supposed to happen, or that cold was their normal state. No biggie, maybe that's just how they serve them, I don't know. Overall, good place, would come here again, just a few little pushes away from really being outstanding.

Good bar food. Burgers, sandwiches, onion rings etc. Fairly extensive beer menu but a big drawback of this place is the lack of Guinness on tap. I just can't give a bar that's supposed to be high end beer place a fourth star without Guinness on tap.

We arrived at the restaurant at 6:40 Saturday evening, it was half full seats available everywhere! We were told there was a 30 minute wait because the kitchen was backed up! We asked if we could sit at the bar and have drinks and they said no! We told them we had driven there because of the yelp review! And all she said was I'm sorry! I guess they don't need the business!!! At least not ours!!!!

My mother is in town and we always make a point to go here when she visits. The wait staff is always fantastic. There is a huge beer selection here and the food is always great. If you can do it get the chips with the bacon blue cheese dip. I don't even like blue cheese usually but it's still fantastic. It's a great piece of Terre Haute history and you should definitely experience it. I didn't catch our waitresses name this time but her code was 555 I think, if any manager sees this, because I'd like her to get credit.

I used to work here while I was in college. I would definitely recommend it and I would eat the food here! The beer is great with a very wide selection, the atmosphere is one-of-a-kind and the food is good also. If I go through Terre Haute, I will definitely make time to eat here.

Moggers is a Terre Haute staple. It's bar food, plain and simple, infused with some local color and culture. Thy have great food and drink specials and a huge variety of draught beers. The Hamma Jamma Lamma sandwich is unique and special - an orgy of pork. The spinach/artichoke dip is filled with its eponymous veggies. Swing by Moggers for lunch, for dinner, for Hoosier hospitality.

Darkly lit pub with pretty good food. It was not to noisy and was not a bad place to go and hangout after a long day of work to have a beer. If you are looking for American pub food, I would give this place a try.

Three of us drove down for the weekend to visit a friend who just moved to Terre Haute to work at ISU. Starving upon arrival, our friend suggested that we all visit M Mogger's. Between us, we ordered a cheeseburger, chicken tenders, a veggie burger and a veggie pizza, and also a mushroom soup. The food looked pretty appetizing, and we all felt the prices were a good value. The burger was probably the best item -- pink and juicy, cooked to order and hand pressed. The chicken fingers were tasty but a bit dry. The veggie burger was OK, the pizza was sadly very, very soggy...and the veggies on it were clearly from a can. The cream of mushroom soup was bland, not creamy, and again...featured mushrooms from a can. Some of the menus were dirty and the atmosphere was rustic. I'd try other places before going back, but I wouldn't rule out a burger and beer here.

A truly excellent experience. It's sad that I have to drive from Indy to Terre Haute for great food. Thankfully, they have Coke, so no deal-breakers up front. Their onion rings are simply outstanding. We ordered an Italian Beef and the Hamma Mamma Jamma, or whatever that thing is called. The Italian Beef should really be considered an "Italian Dip," an Italian-update of the French Dip. While it's not a Chicago-style Italian Beef, it's absolutely excellent, and I can't wait to have another. The Hamma Jamma was also fantastic, a mix of very good pork meats on a terrific bun. The interior is interesting, eclectic and inviting, and I state this last, because I've seen many an appealing interior serve lousy food. A lot of work went into the interior, and the building contains artifacts from many decades of Terre Haute history. While you're waiting on your sandwich, walk around the place, and read the walls. We'll definitely be back.

Lets start with the good: the beer selection! For Terre Haute you can't beat the selection of beer they have. I'd like to see more on tap, but that's just a personal preference. The not so good: it does have an old mothball-like smell/feel to it. I get that it's old, but it could definitely use a major cleaning. Some attention to detail would go a long way. The bad: the wait staff. Almost all of them have no social skills when it comes to dealing with customers. In all the years I've lived in Terre Haute and went there, only twice have I had a waiter that was awesome, and it was the same guy (I wish I could remember his name). It always seems like they're troubled to have to come wait on you. Fortunately the beer allows me to looks past this. The food: It's just OK. Usually a little greasier than I prefer, but it's pub grub, so that's to be expected. My favorites are their wings and the veggie burger.

DEFINITE STOP DURING HOMECOMING Mogger's has a great historic, casual feel like a public house from 100 years ago. We make it a definite stop when in town, especially during homecoming weekends. Mogger's sometimes offers area bands. That's the good news. The bad news, Mogger's isn't always the best managed place, so there are training and efficiency issues (read that as the service sometimes doesn't do the place or owners justice). Give it a try and tell us what you think.

This place has had its ups and downs. I believe it to be back on the up and up now as the last 3 times I have been there it has been a good experience. Their beer selection is one of the best in Terre Haute. Their bottled selection is EXCELLENT. Their bartenders are pretty knowledgeable about their beers. When I sat down at the table, I was waited on within 10 minutes. Not fast, but it gave me time to look over the menu, and by menu I mean beer menu! My sevrer was a nice young girl who was not in the best of moods but tried to keep it upbeat. I gave her a good tip because I could tell one of her tables was giving her multiple issues. Drunk college kids can do that to you. She did her best and for that I applaud her. Their Italian Beef and onion rings were AMAZING! Paired it with a nice craft beer (Three Floyds Gumballhead) and it hit the spot. Their pizza is also VERY good and try their Bleemel Street Burger. I have seen this place at its worst about 5 years ago, and it has improved vastly since then. Hopefully they continue to head in the right direction.

I travel to Terre Haute every now and then for work, and every time I've gotta eat at Mogger's. Don't let them fool you with that Indiana Brewed beer...yuck. But just about everything I've tried on the menu has been top-notch quality bar food. They have this spicy sauce that comes with their fried jalapeno appetizer. I think I return mainly for this sauce. The burgers, sandwiches, and dinner specials I've tried are all good...especially when you have this spicy sauce to dip with (it goes with anything). Did I mention the sauce that comes with the jalapenos is awesome? :) Now go there and try the sauce!!

Framboise ? Check .. Nice bartenders ? Check .. Free shot of the best tasting thing ever? Double check!!!! I met a mudslide and fell in love with it'd cousin an avalanche .. I can say that ok Indiana I have learned about an amazing drink that I never had before .. They have live music .. For free!! The venue is large enough that it could equipt a bunch of folks .. I am truly a fan ..

While I haven't had a chance to sample much Cincinnati cuisine since moving back, my wife and I did enjoy a couple of good meals while on the road between Denver and Cincy. Our last night of travel took us to Terre Haute, Indiana where we had bad luck at one restaurant choice and really good luck at another. Our first choice for dinner was a place called Sonka Irish Pub after reading some reviews and seeing that it was regarded as having an excellent beer selection. Unfortunately the entire pub is a smoking establishment, which we quickly decided would not be appropriate for our three-month old. We loaded back into the car and headed over to M. Moggers Restaurant and Pub. This should have been our first choice since it was much more restaurant like and didn't allow smoking throughout. Plus they too had a very good selection of beers. My wife had a sampler of five different beers while I opted to enjoy a Double Dragonfly from Upland Brewing followed up with a Two Hearted Ale from Bell's. For dinner my wife ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries while I decided to go with the traditional supreme pizza with Authentic Italian spicy tomato sauce topped with pepperoni, sausage, onion, bell peppers, mushrooms and mozzarella. The pizza was very good though a bit on the small side though it was only $9. And the buffalo chicken tasty and definitely on the spicier side as far as the sauce goes. After just sampling a couple of items on their list I can see how this would be the #4 ranked restaurant in Terre Haute.

This place needs some new direction. Terre Haute NEEDS Moggers. The atmosphere is great and could be that restaurant you take out of town visitors to. Sadly, the food is overpriced and not worth it being over priced. The fish and chips I had were nothing great (you only get 2 small filets for the $15). I actually had to use a knife to cut one of the filets because it was over cooked and could be cut with a fork. The BBQ nachos we had for an appetizer were lacking as well. The pork had the consistency of a thick paste and again small portion with nothing to wow you. My wife had the Italian beef and it was decent but again, nothing over the top. The chips are alright but nothing to rave about. The fries are however, pretty darn good. The service time has been crazy slow every time we have been. This last time, there were open tables EVERYWHERE but there was a 45 minute wait. I could see this place really doing well if did some house cleaning.

Dis-organized. The food was delicious! Beer was good and cold. The help is completely disorganized on an a Tuesday night. I blame this on mis-management, not the workers. I didn't see clear, defined roles. There appears to be enough people, but they disappear and if you're not 'their' table and you have an empty glass they walk right by, not making eye contact.... I'm not a restaurant owner, but I eat out +130 nights /year. They just don't follow the basics, like dipping the glass and the mixer in the ice bin to get ice. Will I be back? Yes, it'll get a second and maybe 3rd shot..

Interesting building and solid beer list are the stars here. Service can often drag a bit, especially during off-peak hours. Food is solid, I recommend the Water Street Melt and the Onion Rings.

This is one of my favorite comfort food places when visiting Indiana. It isn't a place I would go if I wanted a fancy, romantic dinner. But it is great for a lazy Saturday or Sunday when you just want something that tastes good. I have had a few things here that I have liked. They have awesome fried mushrooms, which sounds crazy for me to say because I HATE mushrooms. If you give me anything with mushrooms on it, I am sending it right back where it came from. However, I was forced to try one of the fried mushrooms here by my boyfriend and I am so glad that I did. The breading on these suckers is so amazing that it doesn't even bother me that I am eating fungus. They also come with a pretty delicious dipping sauce. The pesto pizza is also a great option. It is a thin, flatbread style pizza that hits the spot. The last time I went I had a really good salad called the Sycamore Chop Salad. I am not a beer person, but this seems to be a great place to have a beer. Service has always been really good and it is a nice atmosphere.

Ok so I was warned before hand that the service was AWFUL! However we came on a Sunday night and were waited on hand and foot. The food came quickly, drinks were refilled before they were finished, it was great. The server was funny. I had a beefy sandwich (sorry, I don't remember which one) and it was wonderful. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. I LOVED the fries! Just the right kind of greasy. I would definitely go back if it wasn't 1500 miles away

Great bar/pub food in an old rustic building atmosphere. The menu has good variety but I'd stick to burgers and sandwiches as this is Mogger's wheel house when it comes to food, as far as drinks go it's beer. The beer selection here is second to none. So if a good sandwich and cold beer is what you crave you can't go wrong here. Also when the weather is nice ask to sit out back in the patio area. Not many people tend to sit out there so you may end up getting a nice private dinning experience. I highly recommend the Italian beef, with a side of fried mushrooms washed down with a glass of Red Chimay.

As far as getting a decent burger in TH, I would say this is top 3. Since moving here in April 2011 we have tried a ton of places and so far most have been a bust. M Moggers and 7th & Elm are top 3, and sadly Applebees makes it there as well. That all said, Moggers is darn good. Big half-pound burgers, a zillion beer choices, and lots of other menu items (I'm told the beer battered fish is to die for). My boyfriend and I had the same thing - the Pub Cheeseburger. Half-pound of fresh beef (I could only eat half) and fresh-cut fries that were super crisp and awesome. The place was quiet on a Sunday for lunch so service was great. A little on the high side cost-wise for TH, our bill was $24 for 2 people. But worth it in our pursuit of a great local burger!

The pizza is divine. Okay, I know it's a brewery. I had a delightful brew from a bottle Dead guy Ale Santa's private reserve. The server was very keen on the drinkability of the beer. Which I adore, a bit of knowledgeability. And, Back to the Pizza. It was small personal sized thin crust and greasy as hell! Spice- how nice. Quite possibly compared to my favorite place in Holland, MI Skylers Pub BUT- I will say this M Mogger's is better.

Very impressed. I had eaten here years ago, but didn't appreciate what a nice place this is. Decorated turn-of-the-century, Mogger's has amaxing wood floors. It is a beautiful place for a bar/grill. And despite how nice the space is, its the food that's the main attraction. Started with the batter fried onion ring appetizer. Delectable (see photo). I don't like onion rings, I didn't order them, but I couldn't stop eating them. Server was quick with a sandwich recommendation. I had the Italian beef. It was simple, tangy, and not fatty and soppy. So many restaurants cheat by serving a slab of greasy fat and calling it a sandwich. That's not for me. I want an authentic, reasonably healthy sandwich. This was a great sandwich on a wonderful long roll. Also, you can get the satandard fries as a side, but Mogger's also serves soup, salad, and a variety of veggies as optional sides without an upcharge. Not many places will do that, and few that do serve a soup or veggies that you would want to eat. The cream and broccoli soup was outstanding. The broccoli was still fresh and crisp in the soup. (photo). Everything is homemade at Moggers, and it shows. They have an outstanding beer selection and some of the very best on draught. They were out of the 311, but it was New Year's, so to be expected. Servers were excellent and the place is always clean. Prices are reasonable for quality stuff. Interesting and dependable menu. Can't say enough. It's worth the trip from the interstate to eat here. Bypass the chain cas dining joints crammed on 40 and give Moggers a shot. Really is a treasure in TH.

I have NOTHING good to say about Moggers. They completely RUINED my rehearsal dinner and made no effort to make up for it. I originally met with the kitchen manager, not the events coordinator (he wasn't there that day even though we had a set time to meet). The kitchen manager really wowed us, saying he had done this a hundred times and they would be able to assess how many pizzas we needed when I gave them a headcount. The banquet room was beautiful and rustic, so I immediately booked them. BIG MISTAKE. Shortly after booking them I got an email from Chelsea, their new events coordinator, introducing herself and telling me to go to her with any questions and to plan. ANY email I sent her took over a week to respond to minimum (One time I had to call and ask for a reply after 2 weeks of nothing). Most of my questions went unanswered when she did reply, leading to more emails of me going "what about this question?". I asked for a meeting since she clearly was having a hard time communicating through email, no response. I hoped since I already paid my deposit things would pull together at the end, but it ended up being every bride's nightmare. I gave her my headcount by the date she needed, asked her how much food we needed to feed that amount, and she replied by asking how much food I wanted. I responded "Enough to feed everyone, Im not the expert, you are, I need you to tell me, I want more than plenty for everyone", this back and forth lasted every day the week of the wedding, the day of the rehearsal she was still emailing me about details that would have been worked out months ago if she would have responded to me in a timely manner (and every bride loves responding to emails the day of- especially when shes driving to the airport to pick up her family, right?). She couldn't have been more complicated to communicate with. My head count was 49, she said a certain amount of pizzas (6) would cover it. The kitchen manager had originally told me they make large family size pizzas, so 6 seemed realistic when she said that. What came out where less than normal size larges (they informed me that night they quit making the extra big pizzas, would have been nice to know this sooner since that was our main course). There was only about a 3rd of the food there that was needed to feed everyone. Not nearly enough appatizers or pizza. The bartender kept walking away from the bar and guests kept coming up and asking me where to get drinks. I complained early in the night to send another person up since the bartender kept disappearing for no reason. I asked why they gave me such a low amount of food for my head count, and they had no real answer. They started to make more and would pump out one pizza at a time, but by then everyone was done and had moved on to the dessert (which I brought myself thank goodness), most of the guests only got full because we had more than enough dessert. I was unfortunately running around all night trying to get them to fix the disaster instead of enjoying our dinner. When I went to settle the bill and ask what they were going to do to fix completely wrecking my rehearsal dinner , their excuse for low balling the food estimate was that the original coordinator passed away and didn't know what we originally discussed. That's unfortunate, but I never once talked to him with my plans, so I was confused why that had anything to do with it, I talked with the Kitchen Manager, who was there that night. And I told Chealsea an accurate headcount, so there really was no excuse for not planning enough food for our event. They had no other explanation for all the errors, and said all they could do is not charge me for soft drinks in order to break even. Them breaking even is NOT my problem. If they were a good business they would have taken the hit to make up for how awful everything went. I used to eat there with my now husband once a week and refuse to give them any of my business now. Ruining my dinner is horrible, but not trying to make it up to me is unexcuseable. DO NOT BOOK THIS BANQUET HALL!!!!!!!

My first experience at Mogger's was an unplesent one. The bar/restaruant reminded me of places that I have been in the south with its decor and wood features. The food was overdone and over priced. The waitress had to tell us about the half of dozzen items not available because the back of the house is poorly managed. My steak was ordered medium and came out well. I'm not sorry to say that I will not give them a second chance. The owners of the Stables restruant should be ashamed that they are part of such a down right discusting experience.

The best thing about Mogger's is its atmosphere. In a town full of chain restaurants, Mogger's is a true Terre Haute original dating back to the late 1800s when it was once a brewery and it maintains its historic connection by serving the Terre Haute original- Champagne Velvet beer. Because of its history, we would often bring family or friends here on their first visit to Terre Haute. This is a great place to take a large group of people for an evening as there is plenty of space with various booths, tables, or even room at the bar. If you're in the mood for beer, there's quite a large bottled beer selection (125 beers from around the world). The local menu favorites are the Pork Tenderloin and Italian Beef sandwiches, and if you don't get there at the right time, they may actually be sold out of one or both of these items. The portions are on the larger side, so come hungry. My main reason for giving it three stars is that the food is OK but not spectacularly seasoned or unique and the water definitely has a certain flavor to it. Almost every time I went to eat there, I was joined by a fly at my table. I don't know if its the same lonely fly coming to visit me each time, or if they have a problem with flies- but it definitely annoyed me during my meals and made me put off going there more frequently.

We stopped by here for dinner. Was not crowded at all. We were seated immediately. Wow, what a selection of beers. Our waiter was awesome. Name a beer you like and he could match it to something on the menu, plus give a little history on the beer. Guy knew his beer inside and out. I had the Italian Beef Sandwich with Au jus and onion rings. It was delicious, especially the onion rings. I tore them up. I would go here again.

This place is a variable. It's a little overpriced for what you actually get. The beer selection is good. The ambience is very cool. It seems like the staff is a constant rotation of early twenties hippies which isn't always bad. I just don't know about this place though. I hate to give a less than favorable review for a place that isn't chain and has so much history, but i have to be true to my taste.

Moggers is a great restaurant and bar. The ambiance is fantastic. The building used to be part of Terre Haute's once famous brewery district in the early 1900's. As far as food I recommend the Water Street Melt. The burger is served on rye bread with sauteed onions, and their in house 1,000 island dressing. They will also prepare your burger anyway you desire. I ordered it medium rare and it was fantastic. Another dish I order is the Moggers Salad. This salad has bacon, egg, blue cheese crumbles, homemade croutons and has a home made sweet and tangy dressing. I always add the blackened chicken to my order. The bar has one of the best assortment of beers in Terre Haute. I recommend Gangster Pale Ale, Harvest Valley Wheat, Hazy Days Wheat Ale and the Limestone Lager. All of these beers are brewed right across the street in the Terre Haute Brewery. My only complaint about Moggers is that I had my rehearsal dinner their and they served a fantastic fried chicken that was hand breaded and had wonderful flavor. The only problem is that this it is not on their regular menu and should definitely be included. .

Ate here for lunch one day with my brother on our way to Indy from Evansville. He use to bartend here back in college so my standards were set semi-high already. We are some potato skins & the friend jalapenos. The potato skins were decent, I mean, how can you screw up a potato skin? But the friend jalapenos were AWESOME! Indiana still allows smoking throughout, so it was nice that there was a smoking and nonsmoking section. The server was friendly, though things took a bit longer than expected. The food was very good (burger, pizza, and loaded potato skins) and the beer selection is also great. It is a decent size place with a very bar-esque decor. But comfortable enough for a quick bite to eat.

The food here is good, but I don't recomment the bar. We went in for a nice evening out, free of kids for a few hours and thought this would be a good place. We have eaten there before and liked the food. The restaurant I recommend, the bar...not so much! We sat there and watched an old dried up lady with braids in her hair trying to mix drinks. She was reading the ingredients on the menu to try to figure out the drinks. I ordered a long island ice tea and it was AWFUL! To make it worse, she made a blended drink for someone at one of the tables and after filling the glass, there was a little left. So what does she do? She said "I'm not wasting this!" and she got a straw out and drank some of it. Then 2 other waitresses came over and took a couple and drinks. right in front of us! If that wasn't bad enough..when the waiter returned to get the drink to bring to his table, they put that on his tray to serve with the drink to the customer!!!! Oh my!! Needless to say, we left and won't EVER go back again!!!

The beer selection was average. The white beer I had wasn't too bad. The catfish, on the other hand, was terrible. It was supposed to be blackened - it had a little paprika sprinkled on it. It was rare on the inside and mushy/overcooked on the outside. Prices were a little high for the area.

I was a year in Terre Haute before I tried Mogger's, and I definitely waited too long. Located on the site of an old brewery, Mogger's is a quintessential pub. The atmosphere is dark and aged, with brick and rough wood as the primary theme of the space. The service is friendly, responsive, and knowledgable, which is important, as one of the establishment's main attractions is their excellent selection of wine and beer. The food is fairly traditional pub fare - burgers, fries, and steaks - but it's all extremely well done. The onion straws (like broken onion rings) are spectacular, and the burgers are thick and satisfying, cooked to specification. Pricing is reasonable, about in the range of a sit-down chain restaurant. I usually end up paying around $20 for a meal there, but I tend to drink some of the more expensive beers, so a meal could be had for less.

This was one of our regular stops while living in Terre Haute for four years. The beer-battered cheesesticks are absolutely the best!!!! Also, their signature Mogger's salad is a must. Don't get the iced tea though--just a warning. They tend to have some issues with their water. For dessert, the cinnamon ice cream with apple crisp is to die for. We did notice that the prices have increased a bit the last time we went, but I think it's still worth a visit!

The drink selection is great, no complaints there. The atmosphere is fun. The food is awful. It's just ordinary bar food (aka fried frozen food). I don't think anything is "homemade" and there are no nice touches. The prices are rather high. College students like this place because it's better than cafeteria food, but not by much.

Very impressed. I had eaten here years ago, but didn't appreciate what a nice place this is. Decorated turn-of-the-century, Mogger's has amaxing wood floors.

I used to work here while I was in college. I would definitely recommend it and I would eat the food here! The beer is great with a very wide selection, the atmosphere is one-of-a-kind and the food is good also. If I go through Terre Haute, I will definitely make time to eat here.
